DUSHANBE (TajikTTA) — Uzbeks takes first place in terms of the number of migrants arriving in Russia in 2018. Tajiks come second.
The media reported with reference to the Federation of Russian Migrants:
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has placed 8,216,812 people for migration from January to June 2018. Most foreigners came from Uzbekistan (2,247,519 people). On the second place, Tajikistan (1,131,392 people). It is noteworthy that in fourth place is China with 663,779 people. The PRC bypassed Ukraine, from there, 858,162 people entered Russia. Kyrgyzstan closes the top five (411,321 people).
It is noted that the number of visitors this year is almost 15% higher than the same indicator for 2017 (6,993,602). For working purposes, 2 676 500 people entered Russia. The most common direction is Moscow where 855,580 foreigners were registered. In addition, labour migrants go mainly to St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, 475,537 compared to the Moscow region with 229,901 workers. However, the number of migrants decreases almost fourfold in some other regions: in the Sverdlovsk region (69,432), Krasnodar Territory (60,248).
