TASHKENT (Podrobno.uz) — A new tourist centre is being created in Samarkand. It will include 8 hotels and a number of tourist facilities.

The complex is being built on an area of 212 hectares on the bank of the rowing channel in the Samarkand region. According to the project specifications, there will be 10 facilities, including a congress hall, hotels and recreational areas.

The construction of a congress hall, the Eternal City Caravanserai and 8 hotels is currently underway. Two 22-storey hotels will be five-star, the rest four-star.

Despite a number of hotels in Samarkand, there is a shortage of accommodation during the peak tourist season. This situation was observed, for example, in 2019, when all hotels in the city were fully booked. At the same time, the great opportunities created by the state for the development of tourism, the introduction of a visa-free regime for citizens of about 90 countries are stimulating the growth of tourist flow.

The complex under construction will also become a congress centre. It will provide the necessary conditions for organising international events. The centre is expected to be operational by 2022.

It should be noted that the first gastronomic street has opened in Samarkand, and in the Samarkand region. These facilities not only prolong the time spent by tourists in the region, but also contribute to the development of local infrastructure and create additional sources of income for the population.
