TASHKENT (UzDaily.com) – Gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan grew by 7.5% in the first quarter of 2012, was announced at the session of the Government of Uzbekistan on 20 April, which was dedicated to the results of social-economic development of Uzbekistan in the first three months of 2012.
The growth of industrial output of Uzbekistan made up 6% in the reporting period, agriculture production – 6.1% and construction works – 6.6%.
The State Budget was executed with 0.2% surplus to the GDP. The inflation level did not exceed the forecasted volume.
It was said that production of consumer goods rose by 5.4%, localized goods – by 19.4%, retail trade turnover – 11%, and services – by 12.5%. Share of services in GDP made up 52.1% in the reporting period against 48.5% in the same period of 2011.
Adopted measures helped to increase the volume of attracted investments by 4.4% in the first quarter of 2012. Some 127 new production facilities were commissioned.
Over 234,000 new jobs were created in Uzbekistan in the reporting period, of which 153,000 or 65% in rural areas.
