Uzbekistan Will Spend in 2018, 915 bln Soums for Medicines

TASHKENT (UzTAG) - In 2018, Uzbekistan will spend about 915 bln soums ($117.5 mln) to purchase medicines, as declared at a press conference organized by the Ministry of Health on the topic Providing the population with inexpensive and high-quality medicines is one of the main goals of the reforms carried out in the medical field.
According to the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, funds for the purchase of medicines and medical items for state medical organizations in 2018 are 2.5 times more than in 2017.
It is noted that today in Uzbekistan there are 152 pharmaceutical enterprises. In addition, thanks to the conditions created for foreign investors, the share of direct investments in the republic increases. To date, with the participation of foreign investments, 9 investment projects amounting to $123.9 mln are being implemented. Of these, $87.32 mln are direct foreign investments. These investments are made mainly by investors from China, India, Germany, Great Britain and Turkey.
