Uzbekistan to Export Internet Access to Afghanistan

TASHKENT (AfTag)— Uzbektelecom and Afghan telecommunications operator Afghan Wireless Communication Company (AWCC) signed a memorandum of cooperation and an agreement on the construction of an international network interface.

The signed agreement will allow Uzbekistan to export Internet access services to Afghanistan. The parties also discussed technical and commercial issues in providing communication services.

As reported, on April 3, the Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan Azim Ahmed-Hadzhayev and his colleague from Afghanistan Shahzada Gul Aryobi discussed the prospects for cooperation in the field of information and communication technologies. The parties agreed to identify promising areas for cooperation.
