TASHKENT — According to data published by the State Committee on Statistics of Uzbekistan, the inflation rate has risen to 12% since the beginning of 2018.
“In November this year, prices of goods and services on the country’s consumer market rose by an average of 2.3%. In general, over the 11 months (January-November), the consumer sector recorded an inflation rate of 12.0%”, the committee said.
Food products rose by 2.7% in November, non-food products by 1.2% and services by 3.3%.
An analysis of the nature of consumer price inflation for each month of the year shows that since September, inflationary pressure on the economy has increased. Thus, in September, the average level of consumer prices rose by 1.8%, in October by 1.3% and by 2.3% in November, while prices generally rose by only 5.4% over the same period.
According to IMF forecasts, inflation in Uzbekistan in 2019 is expected to reach 17 to 18%.
