Uzbekistan and Russia Consider New Agreement on Labour Migration

BAKU (Trend) — The governments of Uzbekistan and Russia plan to introduce transparent mechanisms for the organization of labour activity of Uzbeks in Russia, as disclosed during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and his Russian counterpart Alexei Overchuk yesterday, which was held as part of the visit of the Uzbek government delegation to Moscow.
During the meeting, a wide range of issues related to trade, economic and industrial cooperation between the two countries were discussed. The parties examined the prospects for reciprocal visits of heads of ministries, agencies and regional administrations, as well as business representatives to develop new investment projects and conclude commercial contracts as the epidemiological situation in both countries stabilizes.
Special emphasis was given to the issue of creating decent conditions for Uzbek citizens working in Russia. In this regard, possibilities for practical cooperation and implementation of concrete measures were discussed, including the accelerated conclusion of relevant intergovernmental agreements, as well as the creation of special mechanisms in the field of labour migration management.
As a result of the meeting, common measures to promote bilateral cooperation in this field were adopted and concrete steps for further interaction in the defined areas were identified.
