TASHKENT (AKI Press) — Andijan State University of Uzbekistan this year refused to accept documents from school graduates wearing hijab and skirt, the Uzbek language service of BBC reports.

Representatives of the university did not confirm this information saying they were fulfilling the requirements from Tashkent.

One of the employees of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of Uzbekistan said that wearing religious clothes in public places is prohibited in the country.

According to the law, wearing religious clothes in public places except the employees of the religious organizations is fined for 5-10 minimum salary or administrative arrest up to 15 days in Uzbekistan.

One of other universities of the country did not admit those wearing such clothes as well.
