Turkey’s Cengiz Enerji to Build 240 MW TPP in Tashkent Region

TASHKENT (UzReport) — A 240 MW thermal power plant (TPP) will be constructed in the Tashkent region. It will be built and operated by the Turkish companies CENGIZ ENERJI VE TIC A. Ş. (investor) and Cenergo (project management).
The corresponding motion was signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 2 February. According to it, National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan has committed to purchase electricity from the utility over the next 25 years and to make payment in the national currency.
The construction of the TPP is expected to result in a Turkish investment of up to $150 mln, to create 500 new jobs during construction and 100 jobs during the operation of the plant, and the production of affordable electricity amounting to 2 bln kWh/year.
