DUSHANBE (TajikTTA) — The symbol of strengthening friendship between the two brotherly peoples was the destruction of the so-called Karimov wall on the border between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan with the participation of the border guards of the two states.

A few days ago, at the Sarazm-Jartepa checkpoint, which connects the Samarkand region of Uzbekistan with the Sughd region of Tajikistan, a large wall, known as the Karimov wall, was demolished. The ceremony of the destruction of the wall was attended by the delegations of the border guards of the two countries.

The wall of a height of 3 m and a length of 10 m was erected in 2010 on the initiative of the Uzbek authorities. According to the media of Tajikistan, in the place of the destroyed wall a hotel, a car park and a modern checkpoint will be built.
