MELBOURN (Sky News Australia) – Australia’s embassy in Kabul is expected to close its doors in less than six weeks after plans were announced to pull the final 80 troops from Afghanistan.

Private security companies have been told their contracts will end next month and most staff will leave the capital’s fortified diplomatic zone in the next fortnight. It is unclear whether Australia will retain its presence in the country by moving back into the U.S. embassy compound but an announcement is expected within days.
