DUSHANBE (Avesta News Agency) – Tajikistan agreed to maximise electricity exports to Afghanistan during the seven months of spring and summer, which could mean the export of more than 1.5 billion kWh through an existing 220 kW line. The countries agreed on the need to build a 500 kW line that would enable more Tajik export capacity.

Turkmenistan has begun building a 500 kW line that could connect to the planned Tajik-Afghan 500 kW line, the source told Avesta New Agency, adding the hook-up could enable Tajikistan and Turkmenistan to reach other energy markets via Afghanistan.

Turkmenistan also is laying a gas pipeline to Kabul, which Tajikistan could access to obtain gas, the source added.
