Indicators of mutual trade increased by 14.8% and 29.95% in tonnage and value respectively, compared with the corresponding period last year.
At the same time, Iran’s export to Afghanistan amounted to 2.18 mln tons worth $1.1 bln — an increase of 15.21% and 30.69%, respectively, higher in terms of tonnage and cost. According to Financial Tribune, during this period, Afghanistan was Iran’s fourth largest export destination.
For this period of four months, Iran mainly exported oil and low-density hydrocarbons to Afghanistan.
In turn, Afghanistan exported 3,402 tons of goods worth $3.88 mln to Iran. Basically it is sesame, cumin and other herbs. During this period, the country was only the 68th-rated exporter of goods to Iran.
It should be noted that with the introduction of US sanctions against Iran, Afghanistan will have to look for other sources of oil, since this country is completely dependent on Washington.
