Kabul (TOLO) — On Thursday night, Bala Murghab county in Badghis province in north-western Afghanistan was subjected to another massive attack by Taliban militants.

According to the provincial council, about 500 law enforcement officers are currently surrounded and still engaged in clashes with the enemy, who are more numerous.

The fighting is taking place in the county administrative centre and the police headquarters and the local military base are threatened with seizure. In addition, militants continue to attack roadblocks, some of which were eventually occupied by rebels.

Several weeks earlier, intense fighting had already taken place in this commune, costing the lives of dozens of members of the security forces. In addition, 58 police officers from the border of this county were forced to flee with their families to neighbouring Turkmenistan, but were later able to return to Afghanistan.
