KABUL (Pajhwok Afghan News) — A new 110-kV power transmission line from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan has been inaugurated. The transmission line will supply electricity from Rabat-Kashan to Qala-i-Naw, the capital of north-western Badghis province.
After the Imamnazar-Andkhoi and Serhetabat-Herat lines, the new project is the first to deliver additional electricity to the energy-deficient neighbour.
Turkmenistan exports electricity to Afghanistan, Iran and Turkey. Ashgabat is also weighing power supplies to the Caucasus markets, as well as Central and South Asia.
