TEHRAN (Tasnim) — Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will visit Turkmenistan on Sunday for talks on bilateral relations as well as regional issues. In his trip to Ashgabat, Zarif will head a high-ranking political and economic delegation.
During his official visit, the Iranian foreign minister is scheduled to meet the Turkmen officials to discuss ways to expand bilateral relations in various fields, including political, trade, transportation, energy, customs, as well as regional and global developments.
The visit by the Iranian delegation to the northern neighbouring country comes amidst the mounting U.S. political and economic sanction pressures against the Islamic republic.
