TEHRAN (Mehr News) — Turkmenistan and Iran opened a border crossing for trucks at the Sarakhs-Sarakhs checkpoint for 10 days.

According to the Iranian terminal manager of Sarakhs, Mehdi Rezai, following Monday’s meeting with the Turkmen side and in accordance with the agreed sanitary procedures, it was decided that 10 trucks would cross the border bridge 100 meters into the territory of Turkmenistan. The trailers carrying cargo will then be transferred from Iranian trucks to Turkmen ones, which will then deliver the shipment to its destination on the territory of Turkmenistan or to a third country.

The Turkmen trucks will deliver the cargo to its final destination and return an empty trailer to the Iranian drivers in Sarakhs. A similar procedure is possible for Turkmen trucks entering Iranian territory.

Since 1st September, Turkmenistan has resumed its regular rail links with Iran. The circulation of merchandise trains according to a regular timetable is carried out through customs checkpoints at the Sarakhs-Sarakhs border posts,
