SHAH ALAM SELANGOR (UMW press service) – UMW Synergistic Generation Sdn Bhd, a 60%-owned unit of UMW Holdings Bhd, has been awarded a contract by Petronas Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd to supply a main power generation package for the Diyarbekir oil development project offshore Turkmenistan. The contract amount was not disclosed.

Malaysia’s Petronas signed a 25-year production sharing agreement with the government of Turkmenistan in 1996, for exploration and development of the contract area Block - 1 that includes offshore fields of Magtymguly, Ovez and Diyarbekir. Petronas Carigali (Turkmenistan) extracts oil in the Caspian Sea. The Diyarbekir project covers two fields, namely West Diyarbekir and Central Diyarbekir, both located in Block 1, between 50 km and 80 km offshore Turkmenistan.
The power generation package for both fields includes one unit of 550 kW diesel engine generator and one unit of 550kW gas engine generator.
“Turkmenistan is not new to us as we have had a presence there since 2007,” said UMW Synergistic managing director Azhari Adnan in a statement today.
UMW Synergistic Generation Sdn Bhd became a subsidiary of the Malaysian Oil & Gas Group UMW when UMW acquired a 60% share capital in Synergistic Generation in 2009. Being a total energy solution provider, they are primarily involved in the design, fabrication and packaging of customised rotating equipment and their related components for oil and gas players as well as public and private sector utility companies. In their packaging solutions, they provide engineering and expertise together with the assembly, installation and testing of generators, radiators, skid bases, acoustic enclosures and control systems, among other components.
