Turkmenistan and Iran Discuss Consular, Border and Customs Issues

ASHGABAT (Turkmenistan.ru) – The 11th meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission on consular, border and customs issues was held in Ashgabat. A delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran led by Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular and Parliamentary Affairs Hassan Gashgavi arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the meeting.

ASHGABAT (Turkmenistan.ru) – The 11<sup>th</sup> meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission on consular, border and customs issues was held in Ashgabat. A delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran led by Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular and Parliamentary Affairs Hassan Gashgavi arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the meeting.

According to the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan, the sides exchanged views on the status and prospects of development of relations between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran and discussed issues relating to implementation of the agreements reached by the commission at its previous meeting in Tehran on 13-14 January 2014. The meeting also discussed development of cooperation in consular and border management areas and establishment of effective management of customs points.

Issues relating to the functioning of the recently commissioned railway Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran were discussed in great detail. The meeting agreed on establishment of a bilateral format of work to enhance cooperation between border and customs services of the two countries.

The sides signed a protocol on the outcomes of the meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission on consular, border and customs issues.
