ASHGABAT (Cihan/Xinhua) – A closed joint-stock company Ashgabat shaher telefon ulgamy (“Ashgabat urban telephone network”) has been established in Turkmenistan in accordance with the decree of the country’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov.
The founders of the company are Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Communications (30% of shares) and Turkmen Telecom state-owned telecommunications company under the Ministry of Communications (60%).
The joint-stock company has been created in order to implement the national program for socio-economic development of Turkmenistan for 2011-2030, increase the effectiveness of the enterprises in the national economy, to create favourable conditions for the market relations and further improve the communications sphere, said the document.
Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper said that as a result of the complex modernization and diversification of the industry infrastructure, using of the advanced equipment, ramified system of communication, television and radio communications, digital broadcasting operate in the country.
“High-quality communication services, as well as high-speed channels to connect to broadband Internet and data transmission are ensured,” said the newspaper. “Laying of transnational fibre-optic communication lines continues with the aim of expanding the interstate telephone traffic.”
