Iran’s Exports to Turkmenistan Rise Fourfold in 3 Years

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency) – The value of Iran’s exports to Turkmenistan has increased more than four times during the last three years, an Iranian diplomat said on Monday.

“Our country’s exports to Turkmenistan grew fourfold compared to 2008” Hamid Goozaliyan, the trade attaché of the Iranian embassy in Ashgabat told Fars News agency on Monday. He stated that the value of Iran’s exports to the Central Asian state will reach US $1.3bln in 2012, adding that Iran exported $270mln worth in goods to the Northern neighbouring country in 2008.

In July, the 12th Joint Economic Cooperation Commission Meeting of Iran and Turkmenistan started work in Tehran with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and his Turkmen counterpart Rasit Meredow heading the two countries’ delegations.
