ASHGABAT (Turkmenistan.ru ) – Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held talks with Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev. The sides discussed issues relating to the postponement of the CIS Heads of State summit.
- The next meeting of the Council of the Heads of the CIS States, which was expected to be held in early November, will be held in Ashgabat on December 5, CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev said after meeting with the Turkmen President.
As the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports, at the request of the CIS Executive Committee, the summit of the CIS Heads of State, initially scheduled for early November in Ashgabat, has been postponed to December 5 this year. On 4 December, the Turkmen capital will host a meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers.
In this regard, it was noted that Turkmenistan stands fully prepared to host the summit of the CIS Heads of State and meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers, the agenda of which include a wide range of issues relating to the further development of multifaceted cooperation within the CIS.
Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergei Lebedev sincerely thanked the President of Turkmenistan for providing support in organizing the events that are held in Turkmenistan under its chairmanship in the CIS in 2012. He pointed out that each of these events is noted for the high level of organization and productivity.
