DUSHANBE (Satrapia) — More than 7,200 units, or 26.2% of the total number of agricultural machines available to public and dehqan (دهقان) farms in Tajikistan are defective, the country’s national statistics agency reported.
According to the agency, as of 1 August 2019, 27,661 tractors of all brands were in service on public farms and dehqan farms, of which 20426 were in good working condition, which represents 73.8% of their total number.
It should be noted that the Republic’s agricultural stock needs to be renewed, as most technical equipment uses the third or even fourth operating term.
New agricultural machinery is mainly imported from Belarus.
According to official figures, Tajikistan has imported more than 10,000 units of agricultural machinery and equipment over the past seven years.
It should be recalled that since September 2018, a Tajik and Belarusian joint venture, CJSC Agrotechservice, is operating. The company mainly assembles tractors and other types of agricultural machinery.
