DUSHANBE (Avesta news agency) — More than 6,700 units or 25.1% of the total number of agricultural machinery in the possession of public and dehgan farms in Tajikistan are defective.

According to statistics, as of September 1, 2018, 26,817 tractors of all makes are available in public and dehgan farms, of which 20,095 tractors are in good condition, which is 67.3% of their total number . Meanwhile, many industry experts argue that most agricultural machinery, acquired during the Soviet era, has long been outdated and became unsuitable. The agricultural park of the republic needs to be updated, since most of the technical means are used for the second or even the third term of operation.

According to official data, over the past 5-6 years, Tajikistan has imported more than 10,000 agricultural machinery and equipment. New agricultural equipment is mainly imported from Belarus.

On September 29 of this year in the city of Gissar the second phase of the joint Tajik-Belarusian enterprise Agrotechservice was launched. This enterprise, the first phase of which was commissioned in May of this year is mainly engaged in the assembly of tractors and other types of agricultural equipment. During 4 months from the beginning of activity at this enterprise, 206 units of agricultural machinery were assembled, including 48 units of Belarus 82.1 tractors. With the launch of the second stage, the production capacity of Agrotechservice is the assembly of 6 tractors per day, and the enterprise is able to produce over 1,7000 units of tractors per year.
