DUSHANBE (Asia-Plus) — The Tajik president ordered the government and relevant ministries and agencies to use other sources instead of this tax to replenish the country’s budget.

In a statement delivered at a joint session of both chambers of parliament, President Emomali Rahmon noted on January 26 that Tajikistan faces a difficult year, especially in terms of providing the population with food.

The head of state instructed to exempt all farming units, irrespective of forms of property, from paying a land tax for one year.

The president ordered the government and relevant ministries and agencies to use other sources instead of this tax to replenish the country’s budget.

According to him, the exemption of farmers from paying the land tax will permit to provide the population with farm product and reduce food imports.

Addressing the parliament, Emomali Rahmon noted that the coming year will be difficult in terms of providing the population with food and called on the population to use their household plots for growing agricultural products.
