DUSHANBE (Satrapia) — According to the Statistical Agency of the Republic of Tajikistan, the population of the country reached 9,212,100 people, a growth of 2.2%. 50.7% of the population is male and 49.3% female.

From a regional perspective, Khatlon has a population of more than 3.3 mln, the Sughd region more than 2.6 mln, GBAO 228,000, and more than 2.1 mln in Dushanbe city alone.

The proportion of the population before working age is 34.3%, while the proportion of people of working age is 60% and the proportion of older people 5.7%.

As for life expectancy, it is 75 years

Earlier this year, the Tajik Social Insurance and Pensions Agency reported that over the past 28 years, Tajikistan’s population had increased by 3.7 mln and last year it had reached 9.1 mln.

It should be noted that in 1990, this figure represented only 5.4 mln people. Moreover, the population of the Republic is expected to reach 10 mln by 2023.
