DUSHANBE (Avesta news agency) —| Under the CASA-1000 project, it is planned to guarantee the transit of 5 bln kWh of electricity between Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Pakistan. Tajikistan’s share of electricity exports will be 3 bln kWh, representing 70% of the stipulated volume.

Thus, according to Tajik officials, given current capacities, Tajikistan can export more electricity than the amount specified during the summer period if consumer demand increases.

Previously, it had been stated that under the agreements concluded under the CASA-1000 project, the export price of electricity would be ¢9.35/kWh. The successful implementation of the project will then generate an annual income of more than $150 mln for Tajikistan, which will also benefit from the transit of Kyrgyz electricity through its territory.

It is expected that the implementation of the Tajik part of the project will be completed in 2021.
