In a Thursday meeting with the visiting Tajik Interior Minister Major General Ramadan Rahimzadeh in Tehran, Rahmani Fazli announced that the working group will be formed at the level of deputy interior ministers in a bid to pursue mutual cooperation on the security of borders, reports IRNA.

The Tajik minister, for his part, said that his country is sensitive about the security of its borders, and will try to cooperate with Iran against extremism.

Rahimzadeh also expressed the hope that the two countries would promote their cooperation on ensuring the security of borders in the near future.

During the meeting, the two sides also signed a security and military cooperation agreement.

Pursuing the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed between the presidents of Iran and Tajikistan, fight against terrorism, smuggling of goods and weapons, and money laundry were among other issues discussed at the meeting.

Earlier in September 2014, Rahmani Fazli had paid a visit to the Tajik capital of Dushanbe, during which he signed a MoU with his Tajik counterpart on fight against drug-trafficking.
