DUSHANBE – Tajikistan has dramatically increased imports of Turkmen oil products recently, AsiaPlus.tj reported June 10, quoting Bozorali Begmatov, chief specialist for administration of the Tajik Economic Development and Trade Ministry.
Speaking at an oil roundtable June 9, he said Tajikistan had imported almost 28,000 tonnes of Turkmen fuel and lubricating materials in January-May, compared to 1,200 tonnes during the same period last year.
Meanwhile, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov and visiting Tajik Energy and Industry Minister Sherali Gul reached agreement on further co-operation in trade, energy, agriculture and transportation, Turkmenistan.ru reported June 10.
Gul led a Tajik delegation to the third session of the countries’ inter-governmental commission for trade and scientific co-operation and met individually with Berdymukhamedov. The countries agreed to hold joint business forums, seminars and exhibitions. Turkmenistan agreed to buy aluminium from Tajikistan’s TALCO.
