DUSHANBE (TajikTTA) — According to statistics published today, Tajikistan’s foreign trade turnover in the first half of this year was more than $2 bln, exceeding by 20% (by $353 mln) the amount of the same period of last year. At the same time, the trade balance was negative because imports exceeded exports by more than $1 bln.
In January-June of this year, Tajikistan exported $528.3 mln of goods, 15.3% ($70.2 mln) more than in the same period of 2017, while importing more than $1.5 bln, which is 22.7% ($283.1 mln) more, for the same period. Thus, the trade balance was negative: imports exceeded exports by more than $1 bln.
The ratio of imports to exports in January-June of this year was 35%. In the same period of last year, this indicator was 36%. That is, the ratio of exports to imports has deteriorated by 1%.
The main trading partner of the country in the first half of this year was Russia, the total turnover with which amounted to about $470 mln.
The bilateral trade with Kazakhstan was $416 mln, with China $316 mln and with Uzbekistan $128 mln.
