Tajik Extremist Sentenced to 5 Years for Campaigning in Social Networks

DUSHANBE (TajikTA) — The court of Ismoili Somoni district of Dushanbe sentenced a resident of the capital to 5 years in prison for spreading the ideas of the religious movement Salafia banned in Tajikistan through a social network.

“In March 2017, a resident of Dushanbe Farhod Mukhammadiev, born in 1995, having registered on the social network Odnoklassniki under the name ‘Aho Brother Barodar’, joined the Sunnat and Ahli Sunnat groups and began to actively spread the ideas of the extremist movement Salafiya”, the press centre of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Tajikistan reports.

From March 2017 until the moment of detention, F. Mukhammadiyev (Aha Brother Barodar) posted for his “classmates” the statements of the followers of the Salafi Muhammad ibn Abdulvahhob, Sheikh Alboni, Abdulaziz ibn Bosa, Soleh al-Fauzan and oyhers.
