DUSHANBE (Avesta) — Tajikistan and Switzerland signed the supplement to agreement on the Pamir Private Power Project (PPP), the Tajik Finance Ministry said Tuesday. $625,000 are provided under the supplementary agreement. The project is planned to be finished before the end of this year.

The agreement was inked here Monday during a meeting between Abdusalom Qurboniyon, the Tajik Finance Minister, and Ivo Germann, the head of operations department at the Swiss Cooperation Office in Tajikistan.

The main objective of the supplement to this project (phase-2) is in providing an urgent assistance with restoration of the power transmission lines that were destroyed in the Tajik eastern region of Gorno-Badakhshan by mudslides and flooding caused by rapid snow and glacier melt in July this year.

The main components of this project are to construct the power transmission line from the Pamir-1 hydroelectric power plant (HPP) to Khorog, to consult services and to strengthen the Pamir Energy disaster risk reduction potentials.
