DUSHANBE (Avesta news agency) — The Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan Usmonali Usmonzoda (عثمانعلی عثمانزاده) announced in a press conference that in order to reduce power losses, the capital of Tajikistan, the city of Dushanbe, plans to introduce a automated billing system for electricity metering.
According to him, Tajik government is working with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to conduct a feasibility study of the project.
The head of the Ministry of Energy also said that a German company conducted a feasibility study of projects to introduce a billing system in the cities of Kurgan-tyube, Kulyab and a number of districts of the republic.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the project to install new electricity meters and introduce a billing system in the city of Khujand, which ended last year, turned out to be fruitful. Khujand became so the only city in the country where the collection of funds for electricity reaches 100%.
Earlier, Barki Tojik reported that the implementation of the project in Khujand allowed to reduce the number of inspectors to a minimum. Out of 76 inspectors in Khujand there was only one, which collects debts from consumers of electricity. The reduction of electricity losses, within the project implementation amounted to 3.1%.
