EBRD Allocates $8 mln to 2 Projects in Khorog

DUSHANBE (Avesta news agency) — Tajikistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed grant agreements in Dushanbe for the projects Tajikistan II Water Supply — Khorog, GBAO and Solid Waste Management in Khorog City.

According to the press centre of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan, the agreements were signed by the Minister of Finance Faiziddin Kahhorzoda, director of the unitary company Hochagii Manziliyu Kommunili (“Housing and Communal Services”) and the EBRD representative in Tajikistan, Mrs Ayam.

The total amount of the project Water Supply in Tajikistan II — Khorog, GBAO amounts to $4 mln, of which $2 mln are from the EBRD grant and $2 mln from the EBRD loan, and $1.1 mln is allocated for the implementation of this project. The main objective of the project is the construction and rehabilitation of water supply facilities, the improvement of the quality of water supply services and water purification in Khorog.

The total amount of the Solid Waste Management of the City of Khorog project is $4 mln, including $2 mln from a grant from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and $2 mln from an EBRD loan, and $1.05 mln has been allocated for the technical assistance for the implementation of this project. Its main objective is to introduce new technologies and modern management methods for the collection and disposal of household solid waste, to improve the level and quality of services, and to improve the ecological and health status of Khorog.
