DUSHANBE (Avesta news agency) – Preparations for the practical implementation of the project for the construction of a cargo terminal at the airport in Dushanbe was discussed yesterday at a scientific seminar in Dushanbe.
As reported by Avesta head of the press service of the Dushanbe International Airport (DIA) Mahmadyusuf Shodiev, the participants discussed preparations for the implementation of the project and to study the experience of neighbouring countries for the construction of such facilities. Deputy General Director of DIA Aziz Ibragimov informed the audience and representatives of the Japanese company JICA (sponsor) on the selection of consultants.
He also briefed them on the preparation of documents on terms of the beginning of the project. Tajik experts shared the results of his visit to neighbouring Kyrgyzstan, where they visited the Manas airport.
On September 29, 2014 was signed a grant agreement for the project “Improvement of infrastructure Dushanbe International Airport” between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and JICA.
In November last year, was chosen consultant and project agreement was signed between JSC DIA and the Consortium of Nippon Koei Co., LTD, Japan Airport consultant Inc. and Daiken Sekkei Inc. According to DIA, this grant agreement provides for the allocation of the Government of Japan a grant to Tajikistan in the amount of approximately $19 mln. For the construction of a cargo terminal and supply the Instrument Landing System (ILS) and the Approach Lighting System (ALS) for precision approach and landing on the runway.
DIA also reported that the construction of a cargo terminal will significantly increase the volume of goods transported by air, the export of agricultural products, to create an extensive route network for transit flights and bring the republic of communication deadlock.
