Chinese Firm to Build Coal-Powered Heat and Power Plant in Eastern Tajikistan

DUSHANBE (Avesta news Agency) — China’s Norinco International Cooperation Ltd will build a coal-powered heat and power plant in the Tajik eastern district of Rasht, Tajikistan’s State Committee for Investments and State Property Management said Thursday. The plant will consist of two power-generating boilers with a total capacity of 350 MW. It will generate up to 8.7 mln kWh of electricity per day.
Tajikistan’s State Committee for Investments and State Property Management and Chinese company will sign an agreement on this subject on the sidelines of the 2015 Dushanbe International Business Forum to be held here on Oct. 14.
Established in 2001, Norinco International Cooperation Ltd (Norinco International) is a public listed company subordinate to China North Industries Corporation (NORINCO). The company undertakes heavy construction projects including electric power plants, roads and bridges, and railways in Africa and the Middle East area.
