The optimism of the Iranian envoy is only a show. I have the impression that things are not progressing because no one, except the Iranians, is in a hurry. They are probably waiting to see who the next Iranian president will be. In any case, we have understood that the last ones to want the sanctions lifted are the Russians.

Trump wanted to add the Iranian missile program to the nuclear deal. Of course, Tehran refuses, arguing that a deal is a deal and you can’t change it afterwards. In a sense, they are right, but I hardly see Biden agreeing to turn a blind eye to the missiles. So, the return of the States to the agreement is not for tomorrow.

The nature of Iran’s current nuclear program is largely determined by the nuclear program developed under the Shah. First and foremost, this refers to the strategy of building nuclear infrastructure, i.e., the relevant parts of the nuclear fuel cycle. This strategy was focused on achieving a significant level of self-sufficiency and mastery of "critical" technologies, which created the scientific and technical prerequisites for the emergence of nuclear weapons in the country. The main role was played by extensive cooperation with Western countries, primarily the United States, Germany, and France.

The Iranian missiles are exclusively of Russian and Chinese technology. The Americans should therefore demand that Russia and China stop assisting Iran in this field. Iran is not capable of developing certain crucial components such as gyroscopes on its own. A missile without guidance is a blind runner.

Iran’s industrial and technological capabilities are a myth, as were those of Saddam’s Iraq. All the intelligence services know this and nobody is fooled. Only this narrative serves the warmongers and the Iranians are silly enough to fall into this trap. Or maybe, as Zarif revealed, they only obey Russia.

The United States, Germany and France assisted Iran in the 1950s-70s in its nuclear technology development because the country had respectable and responsible leadership. Today, Russia and China help Iran in the nuclear field while the country is run by a bunch of gangsters. Why do Russia and China love so much the thug regimes around the world?
