Upon his arrival in Moscow, Khavazi told reporters that his visit was aimed at expanding agricultural cooperation and exchanging technical knowledge.
Iran and Russia have considerable agricultural capacities that can be used to strengthen cooperation, the minister said. He added that he would meet with his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Patrushev, to discuss potential areas for developing trade in agricultural products.
Visiting fisheries sectors in Russia and meeting with representatives of Iranian companies operating in Russia are among Khavazi’s plans in Moscow.
Russia imports $20 bln worth of agricultural products every year.
Iran’s ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali, says infrastructure problems in shipping products are the main obstacle to Iranian-Russian trade.
