TEHRAN (Ruptly) – Rafael Grossi, the director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, arrived in Tehran on Saturday to meet Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organisation.

Grossi visited Tehran ahead of Iran’s parliamentary deadline for the US to ease sanctions. The Iranian parliament has passed a law that forces the Iranian government to withdraw from some of its obligations under the JCPOA. This includes withdrawal from the additional protocol and additional safeguard inspections.

The Iranian government has said it will continue to cooperate with the IAEA, according to Iran government spokesperson Ali Rabiei.
