WASHINGTON DC (CBS) — The new occupant of the White House, Joe Biden, said his administration would not lift sanctions against Iran until it complies with its commitments under the 2015 nuclear deal.

In an interview on CBS News, Biden was asked whether Washington would lift sanctions to bring Tehran back to the agreement, which had led the Iranian government to agree to reduce its nuclear programme in exchange for a reduction in sanctions.

Biden’s answer was a resounding "No", which, given the Iranian Supreme Leader’s statements, leaves little chance in the short-term for a return to the pre-Donald Trump situation.
