Yerevan : Demonstrators Demanding Pashinyan’s Resignation
YEREVAN (Ruptly) — Protesters demanding the immediate resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan marched through the city streets in Yerevan on Wednesday.
According to local reports, police didn’t interfere in the march or make any arrests during the evening’s protests.
Earlier, Armenian Revolutionary Federation party member Artsvik Minasyan stated that the next rally would take part on Thursday and that day demonstrators would be able to ’share their plan of further actions.’
The footage shows demonstrators firstly gathering near the statue of Aram Khachaturian before moving towards Republic Square. The protesters chanted slogans such as: "Nikol is a betrayer! Betrayer, go away!" until they finally reached the parliament building.
Protests in Yerevan began when Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a Russian-brokered deal to end the fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh on November 9th. Under the terms of the deal, 1,960 Russian peacekeepers will be deployed in the region to monitor the ceasefire.
