NEW DELHI (WION) — Hundreds of Yazidi families driven from their hometown of Sinjar in northern Iraq years ago are now returning back.
With a 600% rise in COVID-19 cases in Iraq through the month of June, strict lockdown measures were imposed in the country forcing thousands of displaced the Yazidis to return to their homeland.
Six years after Islamic state unleashed a genocide campaign against the Yazidi community in Sinjar northern Iraq, hundreds of thousands of theme are still living in harsh conditions and now coronavirus lockdown measures have added to their misery.
