World Energy Council 24th Congress Kicks Off in Abu Dhabi
ABU DHABO (Ruptly) — A dozen international oil companies, including BP, Total, Eni, as well as policy makers and experts, are expected travelled to Abu Dhabi for the World Energy Congress. The World Energy Congress has been held since 1924 and is said to be one of the world’s biggest energy forums, bringing together representatives of the energy sector from over 150 countries.
The World Energy Congress is a triennial event organised by the London-based World Energy Council, which is taking place in the Persian Gulf for the first time from September 9 to 12, and is expected to draw a crowd of investors and thought leaders. The last such congress took place in Istanbul in 2016.
About 15,000 people are expected to attend this year’s Congress, including 70 ministers and 500 directors general from 150 countries. OPEC and non-member producers led by Russia will also convene for a meeting of the technical committee towards the end of the four-day event on September 12.
