TEHRAN (TASS) — The administration of the President Trump convinced the German car maker Volkswagen to stop almost all activities in Iran. The agreement was reached on September 18 after several weeks of negotiations.
“Volkswagen has told us that it will comply with US sanctions against Iran”, TASS quotes US Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell. “We are pleased with this decision”, said US Ambassador. “Iran withdraws its economic resources from its people in order to spread violence and instability around the world”, Bloomberg reports.
At the same time, Grenell said that Volkswagen would still be able to engage in some activities in Iran for humanitarian reasons.
Meanwhile, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi and the chairman of the Chinese National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) Zhang Huazhu stressed the support of the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program against the unilateralism of the United States. At the meeting held on the sidelines of the 62nd Annual Regular Session of the IAEA General Conference, the parties discussed the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan (CAPA) on the Iranian atom and the US withdrawal from the deal, IANA news agency reported. The Chinese side called the Iran-China relations strategic, calling for the development of cooperation between the two countries in nuclear energy, refining, training and security.
