Trump Admits Rift with Bolton and Staffers
WASHINGTON (The White House press service) — U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed on Wednesday that John Bolton, who was dismissed a day earlier from his position as National Security Advisor, was not getting along with senior government officials when he addressed the press at the White House on Wednesday.
Known for his hard-line stance, Bolton was regarded as one of the key architects of the Trump administration’s policy towards Iran, which led the United States to withdraw from the Iranian nuclear accord.
Trump said, “tough guy” Bolton, “wasn’t getting along with people in the administration that I consider very important”, adding “We were setback very badly when John Bolton talked about the Libyan model and he made a mistake”, Trump told reporters. He went further and stated that, “Take a look at what happened to Gaddafi with the Libya model and he’s using that to make a deal with North Korea?”
