NUR-SULTAN / ex ASTANA (Satrapia) — First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on Wednesday announced his resignation as chairman of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan and handed over power to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Addressing the 29th session of the assembly on Wednesday, Nazarbayev said all affairs need to be in the hands of a single person, noting that he will always be with the assembly but that it’s time for a new leadership.
Tokayev proposed that Nazarbayev become the assembly’s honorary chairperson. He said:
Nursultan Nazarbayev, at the dawn of Kazakhstan’s independence, created such a successful social and political institution. This unique body subsequently received constitutional status and wide international recognition. The People’s Assembly became the foundation of interethnic harmony in our country.
Established in 1995 by Nazarbayev, the assembly is an advisory body whose task is to assist in the development and implementation of national policies as well as ensure social and political stability by coordinating inter-ethnic relations.

Nazarbayev has been removed from power in a very courteous way in the last two three years. It is only an appearance, these people do not give up power so easily. It is surely a plan of Putin who didn’t want him anymore. As time goes by, Kazakhstan becomes a mere province of Russia.

Good riddance. It is a bit sad that he can end his life quietly with a generous pension.
