Syria: at least 8 Killed after Explosions Rock Raqqa
DAMASCUS (Ruptly) — At least eight people were killed in the northern Syrian city of Raqqa on Tuesday, following a double bomb attack. Paramedics and security forces carried the injured to ambulances and transferred them to the nearest hospital.
In the footage the burning remains of the suspected car bomb that was reported to be the source of the second explosion can be seen blocking the road. Witnesses said members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) swarmed the scene after the first explosion was heard and then a second larger blast rocked the area, which caused the casualties. No groups or individuals have claimed responsibility for the attack at the time of writing.
Raqqa is currently in the midst of a rebuilding effort after it was freed from the control of the Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS, ISIL).
