Tehran (IRNA) — South Korea’s Strategy and Finance Minister again urged Washington to exempt Korean companies from sanctions on Iranian oil.
- Kim Dong-yeon
Kim Dong-yeon at a meeting with his American counterpart Steven Mnuchin in the margins of the G20 summit in Argentina said that at present many businessmen and oil refineries from South Korea are working with Iran and are calling for exemption from sanctions against Iranian oil, IRNA reports. The Minister of Strategy and Finance of South Korea has characterized his meeting with Mnuchin as positive and stated that he is ready to discuss this issue between the two countries in more detail.
However, U.S. intensifies efforts to isolate the regime in Tehran. The latest action in this direction is the launch of a 24-hour multimedia channel in Persian intended for broadcasting to Iran, announced by Secretary of State Michael Pompeo. “This is done so that ordinary Iranians in their country and around the world can learn that America is standing with them”, he said.
The speech of Mr. Pompeo was timed to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. BBG controls the Voice of America, Liberty and other media.
