NUR-SULTAN / ex ASTANA (Satrapia) — An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale struck the eastern region of Almaty in Kazakhstan on Saturday, the regional emergency department said.
According to a statement issued by the department, the epicenter of the earthquake is located 244 km northeast of the city of Almaty, in a mountainous area of the Eskeldi district. The earthquake was detected at 6:10 AM a.m. local time (00:10 GMT) and the epicentre is believed to be 25 km deep.
