DOHA (Al Jazeera) — Prosecutors in the United States say that Saudi Arabia’s government allegedly recruited two Twitter employees to gather private information on thousands of accounts critical of its leadership.

The two Saudis who worked at Twitter were tasked with gathering the email addresses linked to the Twitter accounts and internet protocol addresses that indicate the user’s location. The prosecutors say that Saudi Arabia was growing increasingly frustrated with being criticised online.
